Visiting Finca Grandez
From the very beginning of this project, one of our founding principles was direct collaboration with coffee farmers at origin. In early 2021, we reached out to numerous producers in search of our first partner—and this is how we connected with Magally Tello-Grandez, who runs the family farm Finca Grandez together with her sisters in the Amazonas region of Peru.
Due to the pandemic, we have not yet been able to visit Magally in person. However, through countless photos, conversations, and videos, we have already gained a vivid impression of the remarkable place where our coffee is grown.
The province of Rodríguez de Mendoza is located in northwestern Peru, where our coffee plants grow at altitudes of 1.200 to 1.800 meters. Every six months, the fields are fertilized with phosphorus-rich rock, guano, and composted organic residues from the coffee cherry. Shade trees such as banana, guava, and cedar trees are planted among the coffee plants, helping to maintain healthy, nutrient-rich soil conditions.
